Even though I have good bandwidth this app freezes constantly, and doesn’t allow you to scroll through the pictures without waiting an extended period of time. It’s very ridiculous . if we didn’t have so many trips logged with this app, I would move to another.

I gave it 4 stars because I just wish you could put videos like half of my trips are videos. But other wise I love the app and I love how it is private to so random people don’t just find your profile.

Currently on a 2 month road trip and wanted a way to keep family updated when traveling from place to place without letting all of social media know our exact whereabouts. This app has been fantastic!! I love keeping track of what we have done and it passes the mom and grandma’s “check in everyday” 😆 ONLY THING MISSING is being able to post a video. There is so much more when sharing a video. I’ve looked at other ‘journal’ apps that offered videos but I just liked this layout the best. HOPING for videos soon!!!!🤞🏻

Here are a couple things that could be improved: 1. offer an option to show the travel route on the map connecting the stations by order of date. 2. allow to upload small videos even though they will not print in the book. 3. it seems difficult for some people to link the journal after they have been invited

Seems like a great app but as someone who is trying to utilize it as a travel journal, the maximum character count is extremely limiting and I will have to find a different app.

I’ve had this app since it first started, and I absolutely loved it. I used it on every trip and always recommended it to others. Now they change the format, it’s not as user friendly, others you invite can’t see your journi with joining. Now I’m looking for a different user friendly app. Please go back to the old app

July 2024: review revision #13, yet ANOTHER year gone by, and STILL no way to access iCloud Shared Albums. Journi GmbH needs to provide a way to use the standard iOS “photo picker” so we can access photos in shared albums!! (Please?) When we go on a trip, everybody traveling together puts their favorite photos into a shared album, but shared albums are inaccessible with Journi! I know they have their own “shared photos” solution that they think is sufficient, BUT IT’S NOT. (People don’t want to deal with other apps and “special instructions”.) It’s enough of a challenge to get folks to add photos to an iOS shared album (and that only takes a few taps!) Other apps on the App Store allow access to the built-in shared albums so it’s not a technical limitation. There have been lots of updates to the app in the years since I initially mentioned this but it continues to be ignored. 😢

Allows me to organize my thoughts WITH my pictures attached, limits the number of characters a bit (so note that) before it spills you into the next post (same with pictures- only ten per post). Also allows you to attach date, time, place, and even tag with what kind of post (activity, accommodation, transportation, relax, etc) and emoji! I ended up springing for the paid version so that I could back it up to my Google drive, and I’m sharing with my fam and friends bc I love it so much, and they are, too!

I have been using Journi for years and love it. But there is some sort of issue with the viewing and scrolling from my iPad. I can only successfully use it from my iPhone now. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it with out any change. My friend said she is having the same issue. Any adjustments from you to rectify the issues would be greatly appreciated.

It takes a long time for photos to load and I’m afraid of not being able to access them. I even tried reinstalling the app but it still doesn’t change anything.

For Premium users, let us have a complete travel journal experience by allowing us to upload videos. I want to be able to share and store everything in one place. Can’t you just remove them as selectable objects if someone wants to purchase an album?

I have used other methods, but on a three week trip, this was the best. Seamlessly integrated, my photos were entered with my dialogue easily. You do have word limits, which in my case may actually be a good thing! But since my photos overflowed the allotted area ( limited to 10 per post)and made new pages, it allowed me to add more description, which replaced lack of being able to put titles on photos. I saw that as one drawback initially. It makes a book for you, but is quite good initially, and you do have some amount of creative control to move and edit photos. My only frustration with that is that sometimes I would like to swap a photo in a layout to a totally different location, but you are limited to their options. One other thing developers might address is if there is a dialogue box and the chosen preferred layout, if the slightest change is made to the dialogue, it changes the whole layout! Back to choosing a layout! All in all, I am very pleased with this app! The quality of the book I had printed was also first rate, if a bit pricey. I will use again, and have recommended to others.

Hello Journi Team, Do you take under consideration to add more stamps? I would be interested in USA states stamps and also US National Parks stamps. A lot of people travels to USA to visit national parks and different states. Thanks

Still trying to find an app that allows me to journal, add some photos and share with friends. This on another app that is NOT that. Sigh. Will continue my search. Ciao app——-

Almost exactly what I have been looking for. Great way to share travel experiences and just photos but also narrative and timelines. So much better than overwhelming family and friends with photo dump via text messages. Several enhancements to add to your product development roadmap: 1. It would be amazing if I could share videos and just just photos. 2. Another suggestion is to add ability to view without downloading the app. So if I share with older relatives who are technologically challenged they could see it without having to go through app download. 3. Dictation capability so descriptions can dictated instead of typing

Daughter went to the trouble to blog her entire trip on this website and then to get the book printed is outrageously expensive.

Well, I guess this is one less travel journal I have now, since you took away the way I sign in (Facebook). I might come back if you decide to put it back, but until then, see you never! 😠😡👎🏻

I wanted to love the app. I joined Journi just days before leaving on my trip and have been stranded with little or no help for 2 weeks. The bot is useless. When I hear from a person 3 days later, it is another 3 days and 4 request later and then the same runaround again. There is no online help. The Journi.zen desk seems to focus on helping you print a book - NOT why I subscribed to upper tier. About to loose any chance of journaling my month long trip and asking for my money back. Frustrated and disappointed.

My husband, granddaughter & I are on a 10 day trip to London & Paris. I wanted to be able to document the trip & share the pics & commentary with friends. Journi gives you that option. I had a little trouble setting it up but with the help of my granddaughter it is working smoothly. Friends & family have enjoyed it. Thank you!

If it weren’t for journi, I would forget so many travel memories that we’ve spent time and money on. And the best part is we can log our photos without being obnoxious on Facebook or Instagram. Just letting our close friend and family follow what we’re up to. Best app. Have gotten so many traveling friends hooked on Journi.

I absolutely love this app! It’s amazing to record my highlights of my trips and to share with friends! I love that every Journi has its own settings to share with specific people! I would love to see a common map with colors where you can see all the places you’ve been. Also a wishlist would be a great addition and merging moments to days, so it would look a bit more organized. Thank you ❤️

I really love this app and the ability to share photos with friends & family! But this is 2023- we should be able to share videos as well!! I have several I would like to upload and it’s not even available in the paid version? I’m really surprised! Unless I overlooked it.. please help me find it or add it to the features!!

I cannot recommend Journi. Here's the list of negatives after a week of use: A. No one you invite can follow your travels/see your entries without registering (i.e., giving out their email). B. There is no web-based way to enter photos or text, only on the phone app. I asked, and they told me so. C. There is a 1000-character limit to any blog entry you may want to create. That's longer than a Tweet, but insufficient to cover an intricate topic. D. There is no option for individual captions for photos. E. Photos of the same general location (in my case, Vienna's Zentralfriedhof) were separated as different entries when I happened to wander 50 yards from where your first photos were taken....even though I uploaded all those photos simultaneously. There is no identifiable mechanism for reuniting those photos into a single entry. F. AND YET, a photo taken from a plane over the Alps helped to misidentify the location of 6 other photos taken in Vienna. In other words, figuring out the app's use of location data is inconsistent & nightmarish. G. The premium membership is comparatively expensive, and the payoff is not worth a tiny percentage of the price. In short, this app is better marketed than it is constructed. Skip it, and try something that is more flexible and whose business model does not involve scarfing up data from your friends and family.

There are so many ways this could be easier. It is frustrating importing pictures when adding to a previous event, arranging photos would be much easier if it was drag and drop, it doesn’t work with Apple Pencil, there are a little glitches when typing or selecting photos when editing previous events. It feels like it was built around ordering photo books and not journaling. TIP: organize everything in advance including your photos, what order you want them in and what you want to write. Going back to edit is clunky.

I’m looking for an app that will allow me to document my vacation with both photos and narrative. This may be the best I’ve found but I’m having trouble figuring it all out. Is there any documentation show how best to utilize all it’s features?

Great way to “travel along” with the actual travelers.

I’ve made about 20+ books through Journi and I’ve been highly satisfied each time. The books are very high quality. Making the books id easy & the App continues to get better each time I use it (more options etc). Finalizing your book & payment/checking out is a breeze too. I highly recommend!!!

I usually don’t write reviews, but this app was constantly sending push notifications insisting me to purchase a subscription. Hate it, bad app, this should be forbidden.

Great way too share memories

Went on a family trip and the whole family contributed to the trip journal! Was able to get it printed later. Easy and really useful tool for recording memories

You had one job! Simply terrible at fetching photos, no matter what source you pick — phone, Google, Facebook. It just spins and spins, and never shows any photos. And when the albums finally do show up — like they did by the time I was finished posting this review — they are in only in a semi-logical order, even after the latest update. They certainly don’t follow the order of the platform you are getting them from. Example: photos from the native iPhone photo app are MOSTLY in reverse date order, with the newest photos at the very bottom of the list. As a profession photographer with over 130,000 photos, this takes a LONG time to scroll down to the most current photos. Not all of the albums in my photo library show up (or at least not in the order created). When I do open an album it takes FOREVER to show even a single photo — on high speed cable internet! I can watch a whole TV episode without one photo showing up.

Love the automatic and clean design layouts. When will the larger size books be available for the US market? I was so excited to see the 11.5”x11.5” listed in the print shop several weeks ago, but when I went to create a book today, it is no longer listed. I hope this can be made available soon. As much as I love the simplicity of Journi books, the larger size is worth the extra effort in the other apps. I am also a premium member and the app would not let me add a caption while I was on WiFi saying I was offline. I thought you should be able to work offline with the premium membership. Please bring the larger sizes to the US!

Really loved this for our family road trip. So easy to post and show others where all we went. I liked the map feature as well. Best part was that when I got home, I basically spent 5 minutes to have a photo book made. It came in about 5 days and was gorgeous. Will definitely use this app again. Only downside was the book was a bit pricey but for the convenience I feel it was worth it.

When friends and family try to enjoy my blog in a browser on their computer the text overlaps my pictures resulting in an unreadable story and a very bad representation of my beautiful images. It's an experience that's beyond horrible. The developer apparently does not care or does not know how to fix this. Heck, a free Tumblr or Wordpress.com account do a better job in sharing my trips with grand parents and teenagers. Please don't just focus on your app but look at the overall platform which you want to build.

We traveled the country for 9 months and I really wanted a journal app I could print. After quite a bit of searching I ran across Journi. I recently printed our book and I am soooo pleased with it. The quality is top notch, we got it in just a few weeks, and it’s a book full of memories. Will definitely use the journi app for our yearly scrap books. So much easier. ❤️

Planned a 30 day family road trip and wanted an app that would allow me to keep a log of my memories through both words and photos. While very new to Journi I did find some hiccups. We are limited to 10 photos per memory if we could up that to 12-16 that would have been nice not to have to eliminate photos I really wanted to include. Their is no interface with instagram? Not sure why they’re no capabilities with Instagram? Sharing memories on Instagram would be amazing? Nice to add stamps of the different states of the US instead of just a US stamp. We road tripped through 7 states and it would have been nice to stamp them. Loved the ability to creat a book at the end of the trip and to have the ability to edit photos placement with my iPhone was the best compared to all other photo book apps. The reason I live Journi so much is because all of my friends and family can follow me on my trip. And because of the format, it makes them feel as if they were there with me. But the best part is that I can create a book about it at the end!!

I found Journi online after moving to Spain about 18 months ago. I knew I would be siteseeing in Europe quite often and wanted to keep a diary of my travels. I find the app excellent for setting up individual trips and it automatically dates and maps the photos. At the end of 2019 I decided I wanted to create a book of my adventures. The app was easy to use and quite efficient. While there are a few things regarding editing I would love to see but really that would possibly take away from the simplicity of the app. Once I set up the book, I was concerned about price and quality. My book was 180€ but when I checked other apps and resources, that was a fair price for 190 page hardcover book. I have a friend I referred the app and he is now sharing his trips with friends. He just ordered a book as well. The quality of the book is great. You can’t beat Journi.

I share my trip diary and photos with family and friends. They love it. Then once home I do a photo book. I love that it includes my diary. I have 8 now. From all over the world.

Great app for quick and easy travel journaling. Allows collaboration between different travelers and makes it easy to share with friends and family. Please add video option soon!!!!
